About the Art
Symbolist painter Delaney Henderson creates mid-sized oil paintings combining animals, people and landscapes into an assembled final image(s). Her work is personal and dreamlike, subjective and sometimes obscure, and has an illustrative quality. The final image is visualized in entirety beforehand, and worked from reference sketches and photographs but may change while in progress. All the art is done in traditional and water based oils. on canvas.
Delaney grew up in the LA area of Southern California and subsequently spent several years in San Francisco and the east bay cities of Oakland and Berkeley where she currently lives.
She has exhibited her work throughout California in museums and galleries and has completed two artist residencies, one at the Montana Artist Refuge in Basin, Montana and one at the Mill Atelier Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She also painted and resided in Sedona in 2016- 2017 and the influence of the South Western landscapes is evident in some of her work.
